Today, we delivered version 1.0 of a custom Rhino plug-in for Modular Ltd. It allows them to design, configure and reconfigure their flexible, modular climbing wall system, that consists of hinged timber panels and a supporting system of telescoping struts. The tool uses the 3D CAD program Rhinoceros 3D, or Rhino, and interfaces with the physics simulation library Kangaroo2. The entire plug-in was written in IronPython. With the Modular plug-in, the same set of components can be adjusted realtime, to simulate the different configurations it can take. Components can be easily added or removed. Ultimately, this will help Modular develop their system and show their clients the flexibility of their products, certainly compared to conventional rigid climbing walls.
